Missionaries
Colombia
Latin America Mission's work in Colombia begin in 1922, through a partnership with a Chilean evangelist to share the gospel there. Hundreds of nationally led churches are part of LAM's legacy in Colombia today. LAM's ongoing ministry in there spans from educating church leaders, to ministering with at-risk children, to partnership in equipping native pastors among Colombia's rural indigenous populations.
Colombia is located at the northern tip of South America. Rich in natural resources, history and culture, the country is known throughout Latin America for its educated, picturesque and metropolitan cities. It is a major exporter of coffee, oil, cut flowers, bananas, emeralds, clothing and footwear.
Colombia also struggles with nearly half of its population living below the poverty line, and is infamous for its ongoing struggles to regain control of its countryside from drug traffickers and paramilitary groups. Whereas murders and kidnappings were a fact of life for Colombians, much progress has been made in recent years, and most Colombian cities are drastically safer places today. To be certain, some rural areas of Colombia remain hotspots.
