AMCA (Asociación de Ministerios Cristianos)
AMCA (Asociación de Ministerios Cristianos) facilitates evangelism and discipleship in Costa Rica through activities at the AMCA House and at the Christian adventure camp, La Cumbre.
The AMCA House, located near the capital, San José, offers a residential-style ministry site for a wide range of activities to include English as a second language classes, English-speaking youth group meetings, evangelistic Bible studies in Spanish and English, plus other special events and conferences. The fact that the AMCA House is not a church opens doors of local ministry to many who may have a negative image of evangelical churches.
The second level of the AMCA House provides ample hospitality space to host mission teams and other groups of up to 32 people with five bedrooms and four bathrooms.
La Cumbre Christian Adventure Camp
La Cumbre Christian Adventure Camp is located in San Geraldo de Dota, less than two hours from San José, on more than 600 acres of primary cloud forest terrain that is part of a national park and is protected by the Costa Rican government. The Savegre River flows directly through La Cumbre, at approximately 8,000 feet above sea level, providing a spectacular display of God’s creation each day.
La Cumbre offers an ideal setting for church retreats, youth group outings, high school and college retreats, and other special events. Activities offered at the camp include indoor rock climbing, high and low ropes courses, rappelling, leap of faith, hammock swing, soccer, basketball, and a host of creative, team-building games. Camp visitors are challenged spiritually through these carefully planned and supervised programs. Many young people and adults have experienced the transforming power of the Lord Jesus Christ while visiting La Cumbre.
