Alan and Ezia Mullins

Anápolis, Brazil

Alan and Ezia, in response to God’s call to missionary service, have served in the area of camp and conference ministries in Brazil for over 40 years. They began their service as missionaries with the Presbyterian Church (USA) in 1973 (Alan went to Brazil in 1970 as a teacher of missionary children). The Mullins continue to feel that the camp ministry is one of the most effective tools for evangelism and discipleship available to the Brazilian church today. They have a strong commitment to this ministry and have been working under the Latin America Mission since 1993. They have two grown children: Eni Dell, 36, married, working as translator/interpreter and ESL teacher, and Nilo, 34, a computer systems analyst.

Alan’s formal training is in Education. He also has over 45 years of practical training skills in Christian camping and has served in various capacities in the U.S. and abroad. Ézia’s training is in the area of linguistics and she has used her language aptitude as an interpreter and translator of Christian literature used around the world in some of the several Portuguese-speaking countries.

During their first 22 years of service the Mullins initiated, administered and directed camps for the Presbyterian Church of Brazil. For the last 19, they have worked full time with Christian Camping International/Brazil Division, as consultants and teachers in training courses and seminars on various aspects of the camping ministry such as construction, layout, staff training, program, activities, organization, etc. They have also ministered through writing and translating materials for use in the training of national Christian camp leaders. They have both been deeply involved in the life of the local churches and communities where they have lived during their years of missionary service.

The Mullins’ major challenge is directly with the Association of Christian Camps in Brazil. They are involved in designing curriculum and teaching courses to help prepare Brazilian camp leaders for a stimulating, challenging and efficient outreach for Christ through this special ministry. They continue to serve as consultants, and work in the organization’s publications department. They are also involved in planning and carrying out the yearly national camp leaders’ convention, and in conducting training seminars for Christian camps throughout Brazil. They continue to be involved in the evangelism, church planting, discipleship and compassionate care through the local church in their community.
