John and Tracey Pieters
John and Tracey Pieters and their daughters, Keila (11/10/97) and Kiana (9/3/99), live and minister just outside Mexico City, Mexico.
They are involved in starting churches in the neediest parts of Mexico. By partnering with local Mexican congregations, they train church-planting teams that begin new churches in densely-populated areas, apprenticing Mexicans who have a desire to see a new church begun in their area.
Having helped to plant the “Jesus Bread of Life” church in La Presa, a hillside of over 700,000 people, and later the “One in Christ” church in La Guadalupana, 40 minutes away, they continue in weekly contact with the pastors and leaders of those congregations, encouraging and mentoring as needed. Their current focus is a new church plant in a vast housing development called Los Héroes Tecámac that has some 70,000 homes (all built within the past 5 years).
The Pieters recently moved into the area, renting a home in the section called “Bosques” (Woods—although there are no woods for miles around!) There, with a team of Mexicans from the two sister churches, they are in the foundational stages of planting a church among their neighbors. The initial response has been very positive and current Bible studies, discipleship classes, children’s programs and youth activities are the groundwork for the future “Uno Más Por Cristo” (One More for Christ) congregation.
Please pray for them as they share the Good News among their neighbors and seek to be salt and light in this huge community with virtually no Christian witness.
