Julie Chamberlain

San José, Costa Rica

Julie Chamberlain serves the Lord in San José, Costa Rica. She is the Director of the Spanish Language Institute, a language school that trains missionaries for service in Latin America.

The Institute offers a year-long course for career missionaries, as well as shorter courses for short term missionaries and others. It also administers a K-12 school called Sojourn Academy for children whose parents are studying Spanish at the Institute and for other neighborhood children and youth.

In her spare time, Julie coordinates a women’s prison ministry, under the auspices of her local church in Costa Rica, and serves on several boards of Christian organizations. She began her ministry in Costa Rica in 1989, after serving eight years as the Director of Christian Education of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Though her ministry has placed her in positions of leadership that require administrative and organizational skills, her favorite activity is teaching the word of God, either in small study groups or before larger audiences.
