Throughout the course and following the course (8 weeks total), students live with Mexican families in the Mexico City metropolitan area and participate in a local Mexican church and/or social ministry. Students also participate in various cultural excursions and talks given by both national and expatriate experts.
Nivel Básico
This course is an introduction to reading, writing and oral Spanish with an emphasis on practical application in daily language usage. Students learn basic Spanish vocabulary, conversation skills and study various grammatical structures including: present simple, present progressive, preterit, future, imperfect as well as the use of verbs “ser” and “estar,” reflexive verbs, “por” and “para.”
Nivel Intermedio
This course is aimed at the student who has passed a basic level of Spanish. The course builds on previous Spanish and continues with an emphasis on practical application in daily language usage. Students learn basic Spanish vocabulary, conversation skills and study various grammatical structures including: preterit, prepositions, “por” and “para,” reflexive verbs, future, imperfect, present perfect, past perfect, future perfect, imperative and subjunctive.
Nivel Avanzado
This course is for the advanced Spanish student who already has a solid basis in the language. Emphasis is placed on practical application in daily language usage including reading, writing and oral communication. Students review and study various grammatical structures including: preterit, present perfect, past perfect, future perfect, present subjunctive, imperfect subjunctive, conditionals, imperative, passive voice and vocabulary. The aim is to review basic grammatical structures and refine and master difficult aspects of Spanish language use.
