Tailored Internships

Summer | Semester | Year

Whether you're a student, recent graduate or professional, applying your studies or skills in a cross-cultural context can serve a local ministry in Latin America while also providing you with invaluable experience.

Tailored InternshipsInternships start in January, June and September, and the initial term can be up to a year. Explore our opportunity listings to see what openings are currently available, or contact us if you are interested in something not listed. We will help you evaluate your skills, background and desires and then explore options for appropriate ministry with current missionaries and alliance ministries.

Logistics and Details FAQ

Do I have to speak Spanish/Portuguese?

Although ideal for those with at least intermediate Spanish/Portuguese skills, some opportunities do not necessitate that language level (ex. TESOL or Campus Ministry). We can often work with your host to facilitate language study or tutoring as part of your internship, and encourage further language learning wherever you are.

Where will I live?

Housing options depend on the placement, but our preference is for you to live with a local family to allow for full immersion in the local language and culture. Sometimes, however, housing is provided at a ministry facility, camp, or in a missionary home. These costs are built into your internship budget.

What about training?

You will spend two days at our Missionary Service Office in Miami en route to your ministry placement. We will do some cross-cultural preparation, orient you to Latin America Mission and have a little fun. You will receive further orientation from your host and supervisor when you arrive in-country.

Does age matter?

For Tailored Internship placements, all candidates over 19 are welcome to apply and we will look to find a placement that fits your age and experience.

Do you accept couples or families?

Yes! In the case of married candidates, both the man and the woman will be expected to comply with all requirements, unless otherwise stated. Logistically and financially, it is difficult to facilitate internships for families with children, so that is rarely done.
