Every year, since 1971, young people — just like you — have come to Mexico City. Not for vacation. Not to pad their resumes. Not to earn a salary — but because Jesus Christ has called them to serve.
Mexico City is ripe for the harvest. Often referred to as the DF (for Distrito Federal, or Federal District), Mexico City is one of the largest cities in the world and home to one fifth of Mexico’s population. Approximately 2000 people arrive daily from all over Latin America and the world in search of new opportunities.
Through Spearhead you will learn how to love and serve like Jesus in an urban content where many needs abound. Jesus took on flesh and dwelt among us in our broken world, emptying Himself of pride, power and privilege and becoming a servant (John 1:14, Philippians 2:1-8). As you take classes to understand the language and culture, participate in a local body of believers and serve in ministry under national leadership, you will learn how to eat, speak, and live like Mexican people do in order to reach them for Christ.
On a daily basis you will bump shoulders with the poorest of the poor, with students and business professionals, many of whom do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Be challenged to move outside your cultural box as you see God work in and through you. He’ll use you to meet real needs through incarnational ministry, offering hope as you speak and live out the Gospel.
Give a week, two months or year of your life, and watch lives transform, including your own. Above photo: Mexico City is the largest city in the Western Hemisphere. Rachel Campbell photo.
