How Spearhead is Different
“Spearhead provides an opportunity to ignite your passion for missions and to consider your role in His global mission.” Spearhead Director, Paul Johnson
Cultural Immersion
Modeled after Jesus’ incarnational ministry, where He took on flesh and dwelt among us, Spearhead places you to live with a national family. You'll learn and minister directly in Spanish, study the host culture and interact daily with the people you intend to reach.
Seeking God's calling
Your understanding of Latin American culture and global missions will deepen as you receive cross-cultural training and mentoring. You will be challenged to broaden your ability to communicate your faith and better understand God's call upon your life.
Emphasis on Evangelism and Discipleship
Evangelism is essential to missions. You will learn how to share Jesus Christ with Latin people and encourage them to be fully devoted followers of Him. You will have opportunities to share Christ personally, in cooperation with local believers, and relate new believers to the local church.
Cooperation with the Local Church and Local Christian Ministries Under Latin Leadership
You will be placed under the direction of national church or ministry leaders. Within this context, you will be able to encourage local believers in their faith and partner with them to proclaim the Good News in both word and deed.
Emphasis on Youth
Fifty percent of the population of Latin America is under 18, and 70 percent is under 27. That's why Spearhead invites young adults to reach the general Latin population, specifically targeting young people.
Emphasis on Urban Centers
Spearhead’s efforts are focused on urban centers in Latin America. Where there is a great concentration of people, there is great need for and a greater receptiveness to the Gospel.
Leadership Development
The Spearhead YearOut program gives participants the opportunity to develop leadership skills and the character necessary for Christian leadership. This is accomplished through individualized training and coaching, various ministry assignments, and in most cases, participation as a team facilitator in the summer Spearhead program.
